associated with the BUILD-Ford Foundation Program

This document emerged from a sustained process of listening, collaborative analysis, and community validation that accompanied meetings and work cycles between 2019 and 2022.

Key Challenges Identified

The organizations highlighted several systemic and persistent obstacles:

Territorial Threats: Constant pressure from land invasions, deforestation, and illegal logging.

State Policies: Exclusionary and extractive economic models, and increased violence, racism, and the criminalization of community leaders.

Capacity Gaps: Economic dependence on donors and a significant technological gap that hindered virtual participation.

Cultural Loss: The death of community elders, leading to the loss of vital ancestral knowledge.
